Assistant District Attorney

The Office of the District Attorney, Cobb Judicial Circuit, is seeking an experienced appellate attorney to serve as an assistant district attorney assigned to the Appellate Division. Excellent writing and research skills are required. Experience in preparing appeals and arguing before appellate courts preferred.

Essential Duties: Conducting legal research; Arguing Constitutional challenges for prosecutions; Preparing and writing appellate briefs; Evaluating trial court decisions for error; Conducting oral argument before the Georgia Appellate courts; and Providing legal guidance for the trial attorneys;

Essential Skills: Excellent writing skills required; Excellent organizational skills; Excellent oral communication skills; Excellent legal research skills; Excellent working knowledge of Lexis-Nexis; Ability to adjust priorities and manage time wisely in a fast-paced environment; and Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, understandable manner and listen attentively to others.

Minimum Qualifications:  A Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school. Must be a member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia and be admitted to argue in the Georgia Court of Appeals and the Georgia Supreme Court. Experience working in a law firm or government legal office, including years’ experience in writing appellate briefs and arguing before appellate courts, preferred.
