Victim Witness Advocate
The District Attorney’s Office is currently accepting resumes/applications for a Victim Witness Advocate in the Conasauga Circuit. This position will work closely with victims and/or witnesses of a crime to guide them through the criminal justice system and Victim/Witness Assistance Program.
Responsibilities include; providing victims with notification and explanation of court proceedings, referrals to available resources, advising victims of their rights based on the Crime Victim’s Bill of Rights and Georgia Constitution, assisting victims with compensation claims, victim impact statements, and restitution. Knowledge of the judicial process with respect to victims’ rights and case filings; and experience working with prosecutors and law enforcement are preferred.
Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work, counseling or a related field. Two plus years of experience working in criminal justice, social services, crisis intervention, or trauma and violence safety assessment and planning is preferred. Superior customer service and communication skills, positive attitude, personal responsibility and a strong sense of responsibility to the community at large is preferred. All candidates are subject to a background check. Applicants selected for hire will be subject to fingerprinting, a criminal history background check, a motor vehicle driver’s history check and pre-employment drug screening; employment is contingent upon the completion and satisfactory results of each investigation.

Salary Range: Starting at $28,323 with a 4-year degree
