Executive Senior Advisor-Supervising Attorney

The DeKalb County Solicitor-General’s Office is looking for a Executive Senior Advisor Supervising Attorney to join our Team. The Job Duties are as follows:

The Executive Senior Advisor is a multi-functioning position with responsibilities for designing and overseeing all Attorney learning and development programs within our organization, handling all Appeals for the Office and serving as a Strategic Advisor to the Solicitor-General.

The Office of the DeKalb County Solicitor-General is committed to providing a supportive environment for learning and development. As such, the Executive Senior Counsel is responsible for helping Assistant Solicitor-Generals advance their skills and knowledge by

ATTORNEY LEARNING
• Orientation Training – introduce new ASG’s to the structure and function of the office
• Trial Advocacy Training – design and implement continuing inter-office training programs; Ensure adequate external trainings.
• CLE monitoring – coordinate and ensure all ASG’s are current and up to date on required trainings
• Identify and Assess the organization training needs and develop programs and initiatives to meet those needs
• Measures and assesses training programs for relevancy and impact, and sustains, modifies, or replaces programs and/or program elements as appropriate based on current and anticipated needs.

APPEALS
The Appeals Division represents the Office of the DeKalb County Solicitor-General in all direct appeals from misdemeanor convictions. The Division also initiates appeals by the State in certain cases.
• Initiate Appeals
• Draft Briefs
• Participate in Oral Arguments before the state appellate courts
• Respond to post-conviction motions
• Answer writs of habeas corpus
• Handle Open Records Requests, Subpoenas for records, Record Restriction requests
• Provide appellate support to the Trial Division

A candidate must have superior analytical, research, and writing skills. Prior experience as an appellate attorney or equivalent work experience.

Executive Advisor
The Executive Senior Counsel will serve as a strategic advisor to the Solicitor-General on a variety of critical topics. The incumbent will advise and work closely with other members of the executive leadership team and may be tasked with leading and supporting strategic projects identified as priority initiatives.
• Strong analytical skills; able to deconstruct complex issues into clear and actionable initiatives and strategies.
• Demonstrated skills in leadership, interpersonal communication and organizational management required.
• Proven ability to collect data, assess results, draw valid conclusions and present alternative solutions.
• Excellent ability to think and act both strategically and tactically; a decision-maker and problem-solver with sound judgment.
• Superior ability to build collegial relationships and collaborate with senior leadership, peers, and staff at all levels; and
• Ability to successfully engage with community

Preferred Qualifications: Juris Doctorate Degree required; six years of progressively responsible experience practicing law
in area of assignment, to include lead or supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of
education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities
for this job.

Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s
license; and must possess and maintain licensure from the Georgia State Bar Association

Salary Range: $98K-$150K
