Assistant Attorney General
The Department of Law has an immediate opening for an Assistant Attorney General.
An attorney’s duties in the Post-Conviction Section of the Criminal Justice Division include, but are not limited to, preparing briefs on behalf of the State in all non-death penalty murder cases appealed to the Georgia Supreme Court; and defending habeas corpus cases, in both state and federal courts, in which petitioners challenge sentences ranging from life without parole to misdemeanors. It is a mix of non-jury court appearances, some oral arguments, and writing, with a strong need for good writing and research skills. Georgia Bar membership is required, and some experience is preferred.
Salary Range: Salary and benefits will be commensurate with experience, starting at $60,000 for a 2019 Bar year.
