Assistant District Attorney
The Douglas County District Attorney’s Office is currently accepting resumes for an Assistant District Attorney to work in its Pre-Charging Unit (PCU). Principal duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: handling felony cases at First Appearance and Preliminary Hearing Calendars; reviewing case files and ensuring that all relevant evidence has been secured, properly documented, and organized for efficient disposition of the investigation or prosecution; drafting memoranda concerning charging decisions; presenting cases to grand juries; advising law enforcement personnel on various legal issues; negotiating with opposing counsel; reporting to the Chief Assistant District Attorney; and other duties as assigned. This position does not regularly involve appearances before Superior Court judges or trial work.
The ideal candidate must be a licensed member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia. The preferred candidate will possess two or more years of prosecutorial experience in Georgia, with some jury trial experience. The incumbent must be able to multitask and work under occasionally stressful time constraints.
The successful candidate must possess excellent communication skills; must be detail-oriented; strong organizational and interpersonal skills are a must; must be able to work well in a team environment, while at the same time have the ability to work independently; must demonstrate a strong sense of personal responsibility and leadership skills, as well as a commitment to serving the community and working with the public.
Salary Range: Salary and benefits will be commensurate with experience.
