The Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia is pleased to invite you to attend Animal Crimes Training.

2021 Animal Crimes Training (In-Person)
February 3, 2022 from 9AM to 4PM
Valdosta, GA

The Animal Crimes Investigations and Prosecutions one-day training explores the link between animal crimes and interpersonal human violence: domestic violence, child abuse, elder abuse and sexual assault and how knowing animal crimes can assist law enforcement in investigations of human violence.  The course also explores the connection between animal fighting/animal abuse and gangs, drugs, illegal weapons, illegal gambling and more.  The instructors will go over both the animal cruelty statue and the dog fighting statute and use case examples to detail investigations and prosecutions of these cases including types of animal abuse (cruelty, neglect, hoarding, puppy mills, animal sexual abuse and animal fighting), recognizing signs of animal abuse/animal fighting, search warrants, collection of evidence, the cost of care law, how to handle live animal evidence,  cross-reporting, charging decisions and resources for law enforcement, animal control officers and prosecutors.

Contact the training team with questions. Thank you!
