Appellate Track Day 2: Effective Written Advocacy (Webinar)

The Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia invites prosecutors to attend the Effective Written Advocacy Webinar on Thursday, May 21, 2020 from 10:00am to 11:00am. This webinar is part of the Appellate Track for the week which includes three separate webinars. Each of these webinars offers 1 CLE hour.

Description of Training:

Oral arguments may be the “glamorous” side of appeals, but effective written arguments are the bedrock of appellate advocacy. In this webinar, we will explore how to take your appellate briefs from “good enough to pass a Legal Research and Writing class” to “good enough to defend a conviction.” At the end of the hour, attendees will understand the three pillars of effective legal writing, have a toolbox of writing and organizational “tips” based on what our appellate courts want to see in briefs, and understand how to use organization and style to maximize the impact of their arguments.

Speaking on this topic will be the Honorable Todd Hayes, Solicitor-General of Cherokee County, and Mr. Sam d’Entremont, Assistant District Attorney from the Gwinnett Judicial Circuit.

CLE credit will be offered for this training (no POST or Victim Advocate credits available). To register for this class, please click the registration link. If you have any questions, please contact the Training Department at training@pacga.org.
