The Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council is excited to bring Gang Cases: From the Crime Scene to the Courtroom to Forsyth, Georgia!

Gang Cases “From the Crime Scene to the Courtroom” is a hands-on and interactive course. Under the direction of seasoned Gang Investigators and Gang Prosecutors, students will conduct the critical phases of a Gang Investigation and trial – from the crime scene to the courtroom.

The course partners gang investigators and prosecutors as a team, with the challenging task of working through a simulated gang case such as DTO/cartel crimes, human/sex trafficking and other criminal gang activity that features responding to and processing a crime scene, interviewing of individuals, applying for a search warrant, constructing an investigative report, case preparation, and evidence presentation. Students will benefit from hands-on training as well as lectures on various critical topics that include:

  • The Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act
  • Methods of Establishing “Nexus”
  • Gang Search Warrants & Affidavits
  • Social Media
  • Interviewing and Interrogation Techniques
  • Evidence and Expert Witness Presentation
  • Pretrial Motions

This course is open to Prosecutors and Law Enforcement officers who currently handle gang cases. This is an advanced course, so we are asking that applicants have 3+ years of experience handling gang cases.
