Victim Witness Advocate

The Solicitor General’s Office is currently accepting resumes/applications for a Victim Witness Advocate in Athens-Clarke County. This position will work closely with victims and/or witnesses of a crime to guide them through the Victim/Witness Advocacy Program.

Responsibilities include; assisting with compensation claims, victim impact statements and advising of available resources based on the Victim Bill of Rights. Knowledge of the judicial process with respect to victims’ rights and case filings; and experience working with prosecutors and law enforcement are preferred.

Applicants should have an Associate Degree in criminal justice, psychology, sociology, political science or related field with two years of victim assistance program experience or related required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. Superior customer service skills, positive attitude, personal responsibility and a strong sense of responsibility to the community at large is preferred. All candidates are subject to a background check. Applicants selected for hire will be subject to fingerprinting, a criminal history background check, a motor vehicle driver’s history check and pre-employment drug screening; employment is contingent upon the completion and satisfactory results of each investigation.

Salary Range: $41,085 (minimum) with adjustment based on prior experience
