Augusta Judicial Circuit
Investigator
The Augusta Judicial Circuit is seeking a gifted and inquisitive investigator for a newly funded position for a trial team for our new sixth Judge. You will be joining a team of 60 employees in the Augusta, Georgia, office and work specifically with ADAs as they plan their cases for trial. If you have prior experience with special victim’s cases, homicide cases or complex multi-defendant cases, you may quality for one of our Senor Investigator positions.
If you have special skills, please let us know. Some are better at finding people, others are better at thinking outside the box to find that evidence that may have been missed, while others excel at digital forensics and the analysis of social media.
The following duties are normal for this position; other duties may be required and assigned:
• Conducts thorough and impartial investigations to gather evidence used in the apprehension, indictment, prosecution and conviction of law violators.
• Works with other law enforcement agencies during investigations; locates & subpoenas victims/witnesses, completes cases as appropriate to obtain additional evidence as needed; and performs analysis of evidence for presentation at trial.
Preferred Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Must be a current P.O.S.T certified Georgia Peace Officer or within (12) months of initial employment or appointment as a peace officer, satisfactorily complete the basic course as established in accordance with the rules of the GA P.O.S.T Council (an extension not to exceed three (3) months may be granted by the GA P.O.S.T Council for good cause).
You must be a citizen of the United States, have a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent and not have been convicted by any state or by federal government of any crime. Applicants must also demonstrate efficiency with a firearm and possess a valid Georgia Driver’s license.
All candidates are subject to a background check. Applicants selected for hire will be subject to fingerprinting, a criminal history background check, a motor vehicle driver’s history check and pre-employment drug screening; employment is contingent upon the completion and satisfactory results of each investigation.
Salary Range: Commensurate with experience.
