Appellate Attorney
The District Attorney’s Office in the Clayton Judicial Circuit has an opening for an Appellate Assistant District Attorney. The Appellate Assistant District Attorney represent the State in criminal appeals. This position involves handling complex legal issues, drafting persuasive appellate briefs, presenting oral arguments before appellate courts, and extensive legal research and guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
Review trial records and identify legal issues for appeal
Draft appellate briefs, motions, and legal memoranda
Respond to defense appeals and post-conviction motions
Present oral arguments before state and/or federal appellate courts
Provide legal guidance to trial prosecutors on preserving issues for appeal
Stay current on developments in criminal and appellate law
