Departmental Communications Manager

The Cobb County Solicitor General’s Office is a vital part of the legal and justice system in Cobb County, dedicated to serving the community with integrity, compassion, and innovation. We are committed to promoting justice, safety, and the well-being of all residents in our community.

We are seeking a highly motivated and tech-savvy Departmental Communications Manager to join our team. The Departmental Communications Manager will play a critical role in enhancing our community outreach, coordinating events, and managing all communication efforts on behalf of the Solicitor General’s Office. Key Responsibilities:
1. Tech-Savvy Communication: Utilize digital platforms, social media, and other communication tools to create and distribute engaging content that educates and informs the community about the Solicitor General’s Office’s initiatives, programs, and services.
2. Event Coordination: Plan, attend (with or without Solicitor General as required), and coordinate events where the Solicitor General can participate and engage with the community. This includes arranging logistics, invitations, and ensuring a smooth event experience.
3. Community Outreach: Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, organizations, and residents to foster a strong sense of partnership between the Solicitor General’s Office and the community it serves.
4. Content Creation: Develop and manage written and visual content, such as press releases, newsletters, videos, and infographics, to effectively convey the office’s messages and priorities.
5. Media Contact: Be a media contact to schedule interviews, press conferences, and public appearances for the Solicitor General.
6. Event Organization: Plan, execute, and evaluate community events on behalf of the Solicitor General’s Office, ensuring that they align with the office’s mission and goals.
7. Community Engagement Metrics: Monitor and analyze the performance of communication efforts to assess their impact on the community and recommend improvements where necessary.
8. Miscellaneous: Any other duties or projects as directed by the Solicitor General.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
• Proven experience in community outreach, public relations, or a related role.
• Strong technological skills, including proficiency in social media, website management, and communication software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse community stakeholders.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to represent the office in a professional manner.
• Knowledge of the legal system and an understanding of the role of the Solicitor General’s Office is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Strong, established connections with influential local, regional, and state media professionals, with a proven ability to coordinate media interest in events and initiatives—while always working behind the scenes and under the direction of the Solicitor General.
  • Deep familiarity with Cobb County, including strong ties to local leaders, civic organizations, neighborhood groups, faith-based entities, small businesses, and educational institutions.
  • Demonstrated experience planning, organizing, and executing community events from start to finish, including managing logistics, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring seamless implementation.
  • Availability and willingness to attend all events where the Solicitor General or the office has a presence, including evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Technologically proficient in using social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Chat GPT, Gemini), website content management systems, digital marketing tools, and graphic design or video editing software.
  • Skilled in creating compelling written and visual content—including newsletters, infographics, flyers, and digital campaigns—that elevate the Solicitor General’s community presence while remaining in a supportive, non-public-facing capacity.
  • Ability to monitor and track engagement metrics across platforms and recommend behind-the-scenes improvements to enhance community connection.
  • Prior experience supporting public officials, legal professionals, or government agencies in a discreet, highly professional, and supportive communications role—without assuming a spokesperson position or public spotlight.
