Investigator
The Investigator position with the Cobb County Solicitor General’s Office supports Assistant Solicitors by conducting investigations, preparing cases for trial, and ensuring the fair administration of justice. This role involves gathering and analyzing evidence, managing witnesses, assisting victims, and providing courtroom and field support in misdemeanor cases.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct in-depth investigations, including evidence collection, witness interviews, and crime scene documentation.
• Prepare cases for trial by compiling reports, witness lists, and other necessary documentation.
• Identify, locate, and ensure the attendance of witnesses, victims, and defendants.
• Provide courtroom and field security, as well as transportation and escort duties.
• Assist and support victims with resources, updates, and referrals.
• Collaborate with law enforcement, attorneys, court personnel, and community partners.
• Prepare and process investigative documents, reports, and records.
• Testify in court as required.
• Any other duties as required by the Chief Investigator and/or Assistant Chief Investigator.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• POST (Peace Officer Standards and Training) certification in Georgia or eligibility for certification.
• Prior investigative or law enforcement experience.
• Knowledge of investigative practices, courtroom procedures, and applicable laws.
• Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with investigative software and databases.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience conducting criminal investigations in a law enforcement or prosecutorial agency.
• Specialized training in DUI/DRE, domestic violence, or fraud investigations.
• Familiarity with GCIC, LInX, TLO, and other law enforcement databases.
• Courtroom testimony experience as an investigator or law enforcement officer.
• Bilingual or multilingual skills.
• Advanced technical proficiency with video evidence systems and surveillance equipment.
