Director of Victim Services

The Cobb County Solicitor General’s Office has an opening for Director of Victim Services. The Director of Victim Services manages the Victim Witness Advocacy Program, providing leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight to ensure comprehensive services for victims and witnesses throughout the criminal justice process. This role supervises staff, develops policies and procedures, administers budgets and grants, fosters community partnerships, and serves as the primary advisor and spokesperson on victim services matters for the Solicitor General’s Office. The following duties are normal for this position; other duties may be required and assigned:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Leadership & Supervision: Direct, mentor, and evaluate Victim Services staff; oversee scheduling, workflow, performance, and training; recruit, interview, and onboard new employees.

Program Administration: Plan, implement, and monitor daily operations, policies, and long-term strategies for the Victim Witness Advocacy Program; ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and best practices.

Victim Support & Advocacy: Ensure victims and witnesses receive information, resources, and guidance, including Victim Bill of Rights notifications, court accompaniment, assistance with victim compensation, and referrals for housing, relocation, counseling, or emergency needs.

Community & Agency Partnerships: Develop and maintain collaborations with law enforcement, service providers, and community organizations; secure MOUs to expand available resources.

Grant & Budget Management: Administer program grants, prepare reports, and manage budgets to support service delivery and program growth.

Training & Outreach: Provide training to staff, interns, volunteers, and community partners; educate law enforcement, attorneys, and service agencies on victim rights and services.

Case Consultation: Advise attorneys and investigators on cases involving victims, particularly those involving trauma or child victims; review relevant case files and reports.

Records & Reporting: Maintain accurate case and program records; prepare statistical and narrative reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Public Representation: Serve as the official spokesperson on victim service matters; coordinate public events, outreach initiatives, and media responses.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Public Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).

Minimum of five years of experience in victim services, advocacy, or related field, including supervisory experience.

Strong knowledge of victim rights laws, trauma-informed practices, and community resources.

Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications: At least three (3) years experience in a supervisory role involving victim witness services at the District Attorney’s Office, the Solicitor General’s Office, or equivalent.

Master’s degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Public Administration, or related field.

Seven or more years of progressively responsible experience in victim services, advocacy, or related criminal justice work, including senior-level supervisory or management experience.

Advanced knowledge of Georgia’s Crime Victims Bill of Rights, victim compensation programs, and relevant state and federal regulations.

Demonstrated experience in grant writing, administration, and compliance reporting.

Proven success in developing and implementing trauma-informed policies, protocols, and training.

Strong record of building and sustaining partnerships with law enforcement, courts, and community service providers.

Exceptional public speaking, training facilitation, and community outreach skills.

Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (or other languages commonly spoken in Cobb County).
