Assistant Solicitor-General

The Douglas County Solicitor’s Office is seeking a self-starting individual who will be able to jump into a position with a full case load and hit the ground running. The successful applicant will be trained as necessary but will need to be able to quickly pick up policy and protocols. Applicant will be expected to handle all aspects of the prosecution of cases, including the filing of accusations, arraignment, discovery, trial, and appeal. Applicant can expect an extensive amount of time spent in the courtroom, including trial and motion practice almost immediately.

Minimum Qualifications: The position requires a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and applicant should be a member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia. We will show a preference for candidates with at least one year experience working in a prosecutor’s office. Experience for the purpose of this position includes volunteer work, internships, or externships.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Graduate from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor Degree in law
• One year of experience as a practicing attorney
• Must be a member of the Georgia State Bar
• Must have and maintain a valid United States Driver’s License (Class C), a satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR) and the ability and willingness to drive a county vehicle; if assigned job duties require the use of a vehicle
• Minimum 21 years of age

Employment is contingent on passing a mandatory Physical/Drug Screen/MVR and Background Investigation.

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience
