Legal Staff Assistant
The District Attorney’s Office in the Douglas Judicial Circuit has an opening for a Legal Staff Assistant-PACE Unit.
A legal assistant assigned to the Programs, Accountability, and Community Engagement (PACE) Unit must be highly organized, deadline-oriented, and have the ability to multi-task. This position requires extensive contact with victims, courts, attorneys, and the general public. As the Program Coordinator, the incumbent must have the ability to maintain a professional demeanor in a fast-paced, public service environment while assisting with the day-to-day operations of the pre-trial diversion programs. Candidate must possess excellent secretarial and/or paralegal skills to draft and file pre-trial enrollment documents with the court; coordinate and schedule participant life skills workshops; communicate with and actively assist participants, helping them meet the terms of their agreement when necessary; monitor and track participant compliance with program requirements. Position involves heavy contact with the public via phones and in person; candidate must have excellent phone and people skills while serving at the front desk and performing administrative work. Candidate must be able to follow procedures independently and perform other duties assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
•High School diploma/GED, supplemented by course work in legal/paralegal field
•Prior legal assistant and/or pre-trial diversion programs experience preferred
•Mandatory – Must be able to type 50 WPM
•Proficiency with MS Office Suite
•Minimum 18 years of age
Employment is contingent on passing a mandatory Physical/Drug Screen/MVR and Background Investigation.
