Assistant Solicitor-General II

The Office of the Fulton County Solicitor-General is seeking an experienced and highly capable Assistant Solicitor II to prosecute misdemeanor and traffic offenses, manage a diverse caseload, and uphold the fair and efficient administration of justice. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong courtroom skills, sound legal judgement, and a commitment to serving the community with professionalism and integrity.

Job Summary
• Conduct or assist with bench and jury trials, preliminary and pretrial hearings, and related courtroom proceedings; prepare and argue motions, conduct voir dire, deliver opening and closing statements, present evidence, examine witnesses, and make bond and sentencing recommendations.
• Investigate, evaluate, and prepare cases for trial by reviewing records and evidence, preparing exhibits, serving discovery, interviewing victims and witnesses, conducting crime scene observations, issuing subpoenas, and developing case strategies.
• Perform legal research and prepare written materials, including briefs, motions, case summaries, complaints, accusations, discovery, and other supporting documents.
• Prepare cases for accusal and arraignment by reviewing evidence, criminal histories, jurisdictional issues, and probable cause; determine appropriate charges, diversion, or dismissal; and draft formal charging documents.
• Conduct pre-trial case resolution, including plea negotiations, mediation between parties, courtroom pleas, and preparation of restitution requests.
• Serve as a liaison to victims, families, witnesses, and community partners; provide case updates, request victim advocates, and explain investigative and judicial processes.
• Manage a full caseload and attend all required court appearances, including arraignments, status hearings, case management, motions, and trial calendars; coordinate scheduling with judges and case managers.
• Collaborate with community partners to support criminal justice, code enforcement, and crime prevention initiatives; participate in outreach, education, and community meetings.
• Communicate effectively with defense counsel, judges, law enforcement, investigators, legal staff, victims, witnesses, media, government officials, and the public to coordinate case activity and resolve issues.
• Process and prepare legal documentation in accordance with established procedures, including police reports, witness statements, lab reports, criminal histories, motions, charging documents, sentencing recommendations, and departmental reports; maintain accurate electronic and hard copy records.

Preferred Minimum Qualifications: Juris Doctorate Degree required; supplemented by four to eight years of experience as a practicing attorney; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Specific License or Certification Required: Must be registered as a member of the Georgia State Bar Association. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.

Salary Range: Starting Salary/Incentives: $108,000.00 (Commensurate with experience); annual bonuses with consideration for advancement every six months. The salary for experienced attorneys is substantially higher.
