Assistant Solicitor-General III
The Office of the Fulton County Solicitor-General is seeking an experienced and highly capable Assistant Solicitor III to provide advanced prosecutorial support and manage complex casework with professionalism and sound legal judgement. This senior-level role requires demonstrated courtroom proficiency, strong leadership capabilities, and commitment to ensuring the fair and effective administration of justice.
Job Summary:
• Lead and coordinate daily work activities of assigned staff; provide technical guidance, assist with training, and support supervisory functions by offering input on performance and disciplinary matters.
• Conduct or assist with bench and jury trials, preliminary and pretrial hearings, post-trial or appellate proceedings, and related courtroom activities; prepare and argue motions, conduct voir dire, deliver opening and closing statements, present evidence, examine witnesses, and make bond and sentencing recommendations.
• Investigate, evaluate, and prepare cases for trial by reviewing records and evidence, preparing exhibits, serving discovery, interviewing victims and witnesses, conducting crime scene observations, reviewing scientific analyses, issuing subpoenas, and developing case strategies.
• Perform legal research and prepare written materials, including briefs, motions, case summaries, complaints, accusations, discovery, and other supporting documents.
• Prepare cases for accusal and arraignment by reviewing evidence, criminal histories, jurisdictional issues, and probable cause; determine appropriate charges, diversion, or dismissal; and draft formal charging documents.
• Conduct pre-trial case resolution, including plea negotiations, mediation between parties, courtroom pleas, and preparation of restitution documentation.
• Provide guidance and support to victims, witnesses, and community partners; communicate case status updates and explain investigative and judicial processes.
• Collaborate with defense counsel, judges, law enforcement, investigators, legal staff, and other stakeholders to coordinate case activity, exchange information, and resolve issues.
• Manage assigned caseload and ensure timely attendance at all required court appearances, including arraignments, status hearings, motions, and trial calendars.
Minimum Qualifications: Juris Doctorate Degree required; supplemented by ten years of experience as a practicing attorney; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Specific License or Certification Required: Must be registered as a member of the Georgia State Bar Association. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
Salary Range: Starting Salary/Incentives: $120,000.00 (Commensurate with experience); annual bonuses with consideration for advancement every six months. The salary for experienced attorneys is substantially higher.
