Assistant Solicitor-General - Jail Division

The Gwinnett County Solicitor General’s Office is currently accepting resumes for an Assistant Solicitor General to work in the Jail Division.

Principal duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: conducting criminal case analysis; investigating and accusing or dismissing misdemeanor crimes and Title 40 traffic violations; reviewing case files for transfer to the trial line and/or District Attorney’s Office; conducting plea hearings, bond hearings, and probation revocation hearings; properly documenting dispositions and investigative steps in casefiles, court calendars, and case management systems; organizing files for efficient courtroom management; negotiating with opposing counsel; drafting court orders and special conditions of bond; and other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications/Requirements:

The ideal candidate must be a licensed member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia; must be able to multitask and work under occasionally stressful time constraints.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

The successful candidate must possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written; must be detail-oriented; strong organizational and interpersonal skills are a must; must be able to work well in a team environment, while at the same time have the ability to work independently; must demonstrate a strong sense of personal responsibility and leadership skills, as well as a commitment to serving the community and working with the public.

Employment is contingent upon the completion and satisfactory results of a criminal background check.
