Director of Outreach Engagement/Investigator

The District Attorney’s Office in the Macon Judicial Circuit has an opening for an Director of Outreach Engagement / Investigator. The following duties are normal for this position; other duties may be required and assigned:

Supervision and oversight of for all security in the DA’s Office, which includes development and implementation of security policies and continual updates of security procedures as may be warranted due to changing threat levels (multiple of which have occurred during DA Howard’s Administration, including one actual physical office security breach); constant monitoring of our camera surveillance system; making certain there is adequate courtroom security for our ADA staff.

Supervision and oversight for DA Howard’s security, which includes:  ensuring that DA Howard has proper security coverage for all necessary out of Office functions related to her duties as District Attorney of the Macon Judicial Circuit; accompanying DA Howard for all official out of office events and duties; ensuring and implementing all necessary advance security measures for all such outside events; on call 24/7 for security duties as may be needed by DA Howard or her staff

Special Investigative duties include assignment to our Intake Investigative Unit, which is the Unit in our Office responsible for the additional investigation necessary for our serious violent felony crimes (e.g., Murder; Vehicular Homicide; Aggravated Assault; Aggravated Stalking; Aggravated Battery; Aggravated Child Molestation; Rape; Armed Robbery, etc.), and includes case review to ensure that all reports are completed and obtained from law enforcement; victim and witness interviews; early on obtaining and viewing body cam and surveillance video, which allows for additional witness identification; follow up with law enforcement to ensure all forensic evidence gets to the crime lab in a timely manner and continuing follow up to make certain our Office obtains all required reports

Other special investigative duties include Investigator for the Contested Probation Revocation Unit, the duties for which include witness location and interviews; subpoena service; witness and law enforcement coordination for probation revocation court dates; and evidence intake.

Regular Investigative duties include the following:

  1. Interviewing complainants, witnesses, victims, suspects, and informants in person and by telephone.
  2. Obtaining statements.
  3. Planning court presentations with prosecuting attorneys, presents evidence and information, and testifying in judicial proceedings when needed.
  4. Serving court papers and subpoenas.
  5. Obtaining and serving search, criminal and arrest warrants when needed.
  6. Developing intelligence resources for use in investigations and participating in undercover operations.
  7. Reviewing investigative information, writing, and filing case reports and supplements and compiling case files.
  8. Assisting other law enforcement agencies with Investigations upon request; providing information on criminal activity to federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.
  9. Maintaining assigned vehicle and equipment.
  10. Transporting witnesses to and from court proceedings when needed.
  11. Attending training sessions as required.

All other duties as directed by the District Attorney

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Four (4) years’ degree or at least three (3) years of criminal investigation in P.O.S.T. certified employment.  Experience or training in security and executive security.  Some accounting preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  1. Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment, but outside work is often necessary in all types of weather.
  2. Moderate travel.
  3. High activity, multiple deadlines, constant interruptions.
  4. High visibility of behavior
  5. Often requires work outside of normal office hours.

Salary Range: 65,000-80,000
