Accountant 4
The Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council is seeking qualified individuals for Accountant 4. This position will perform General Ledger and Cash Management functions following GASB, GAAP, and SAO standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Applies various accounting theories according to GAAP, governmental accounting standards, applicable state and federal guidelines, and agency fiscal policies and
- Knowledge of the relationships of GL balances and its subsidiary ledger balances and how to reconcile from source data to accounting modules.
- Reviews and analyzes balances in accounts and recognizes discrepancies using various queries and reports. When differences are found, knowledge of how to correct whether through journal entries or the TeamWorks modules.
- Maintains daily cash book by monitoring accounting and banking transactions and performs monthly bank account reconciliations
- Plays a crucial role in uploading monthly, quarterly, and annual financial transactions by writing and posting journal entries.
- Meets deadlines while collaborating and conferring with other professionals courteously to obtain information and resources required to complete a given task.
- Keeps complete, accurate, and readily accessible files that conform to applicable policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards.
- Participates in professional continuing education opportunities when available.
- Displays a consistent, high-quality, customer-focused orientation while responding to inquiries to internal and external customers.
- Completes other related duties as assigned and makes recommendations about pertinent trends and best practices to improve departmental processes.
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university AND two (2) years of professional accounting experience OR Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university AND three (3) years of professional accounting experience OR Bachelor’s degree in a business curriculum which included completion of introductory and intermediate accounting sequence from an accredited college or university AND four (4) years of professional accounting experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, demonstrate some or all of the following skills/experience:
- Five years or more of State of Georgia Accounting experience
- Functional knowledge of the TeamWorks G/L Module
- Working knowledge of the State of Georgia Teamwork’s system
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel using Pivot Tables

Salary Range: $40,983.00 – $65,000.00
