Accounts Payable Accountant

The Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Accountant, reporting to the Accounting Manager. This position will develop a process for payment of invoices received by the department which includes receiving the invoices, posting the invoice for payment to PeopleSoft and imaging the invoice for record retention. The Accountant will be required to coordinate and analyze all payments, data and reports on a monthly basis. Analyzes financial information and programs, identifies financial trends, makes recommendations to management, and prepares a full range of financial reports, including specialized or non-standard reports.  This position offers a flexible teleworking option.

Responsibilities include:

  • Review documents, such as purchase orders, vouchers, invoices, receipts, requisitions, and other forms for accuracy and completeness
  • Prepare and enter vouchers into TeamWorks financials for regular voucher payments and adjustment vouchers
  • Process reimbursements and payment requests
  • Research and resolve invoice, payment, or statement discrepancies
  • Request vendor changes and additions to TeamWorks vendor files.
  • Complete daily A/P audit
  • Continually display a high level of effort, commitment, and detail in performing all tasks
  • Correctly codes transactions following the State Chart of Accounts, Department’s Budget Tables, and State Accounting Office guidelines
  • Provide assistance and customer service to vendors, PAC personnel, and other internal and external constituents
  • Maintain accurate records within the agency’s virtual document management system
  • Ensure travel expense reports are processed accurately and timely for both Concur and Non-Concur requests
  • Review, update, and complete 1099 reporting
  • Prepare the TIGA DOAA submission annually

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university OR Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university AND One year of professional accounting experience OR Bachelor’s degree in a business curriculum which included completion of introductory and intermediate accounting sequence from an accredited college or university AND One year of professional accounting experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using TeamsWorks (PeopleSoft) Financial System – AP module.
  • Experience with the State of Georgia Concur application as back-end approver.
  • Experience with the State of Georgia Transparency in Government Act (TIGA) reconciliation and annual reporting process.
  • Experience with 1099 reporting.
