Victim Witness Advocate
The District Attorney’s Office, Southern Judicial Circuit has an immediate opening for a Victim Advocate in the Valdosta Office.
Responsibilities include:
-Assist victims of crime through the criminal justice system
-Knowledge of the judicial process
-Enter data regarding victim services, as required, into Tracker data entry system regarding victim contact and services provided
-Attend court proceedings and notify victims of crime of proceedings and outcomes, when possible. Court appropriate dress is required.
-Provide referral information and assistance to victims regarding the criminal justice system, victim’s compensation, restitution, counseling services, emergency shelter and area support groups for victims
-Community awareness activities
*Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as computer and telephone skills, are necessary
-Experience in social services and/or law enforcement preferable
-Bilingual (preferred, not required)
-Superior customer service skills, positive attitude, personal responsibility and a strong sense of responsibility to the community at large are preferred. All candidates are subject to a background check. Applicants selected for hire will be subject to fingerprinting, a criminal history background check and pre-employment drug screening; employment is contingent upon the completion and satisfactory results of each investigation.
