Senior Assistant District Attorney

The Office of the DeKalb County District Attorney (DKDA) is currently accepting resumes for a Senior Assistant District Attorney to work in its Crime Strategies and Community Partnerships Unit (CS/CPU).

Principal duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting in implementing intelligence-driven prosecution strategies targeting priority offenders and neighborhoods; investigating, analyzing and processing law enforcement data, police reports, and other information and databases to produce a complete data model of crime, and prosecution trends by identifying current crime drivers and hotspot locations in DeKalb County; establishing and maintaining working relationships with law enforcement analysts to promote information sharing; making appropriate recommendations for improvements in crime analysis and data-driven prosecution practices; investigating and prosecuting felony and misdemeanor cases; reviewing case files and ensuring that all relevant evidence has been secured, properly documented, and organized for efficient disposition of the investigation or prosecution; interviewing lay, expert and law enforcement witnesses; analyzing case files and drafting memoranda concerning charging decisions; presenting cases to grand juries; trying cases; examining and preparing witnesses for trial; planning trial strategy and researching all points of law; drafting memoranda regarding complex legal issues; researching, writing, and arguing Motions and court orders; training law enforcement personnel on issues, including obtaining necessary evidence to prosecute crimes; advising law enforcement personnel on various legal issues; negotiating with opposing counsel; building and maintaining relationships with key community partners including a variety of government agencies, law enforcement agencies, and community-based group; works with the community to develop crime prevention strategies; attending regular meetings of public and private organizations, and neighborhood and business associations; administering the Office’s community outreach, education, and training programs; administering the Court Watch Program, in order to familiarize community members with the criminal justice process; and establish and maintain community youth programs; reporting to the Director of Community Affairs; and other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: The successful candidate must possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written; must be detail-oriented; strong organizational and interpersonal skills are a must; must be able to work well in a team environment; must demonstrate a strong sense of personal responsibility and leadership skills, as well as a commitment to serving the community and working with the public.

Employment is contingent upon the completion and satisfactory results of a criminal background check. Salary and benefits will be commensurate with experience.
