Investigator
The Prosecuting Attorneys Qualifications Commission (PAQC) of Georgia is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Special Commission Investigator. The PAQC administers the discipline and incapacity system for prosecuting attorneys. The Commission has jurisdiction over every commissioned /elected/district attorney and solicitor-general regarding allegations of misconduct and allegations of incapacity. The Director conducts preliminary investigations of complaints, during which investigators assist the Director, seek evidence, and conduct interviews while maintaining the confidentiality of the proceeding. The Investigative Panel may then authorize a full investigation. The matter may ultimately be submitted to a separate Hearing Panel.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Conduct thorough, impartial investigations to support the Senior Investigator
• Assist the Executive Director by reviewing case files and gathering evidence
• Obtain records from other agencies, court clerks, court reporters, and other private and commercial entities
• Create and maintain an investigative file that includes the complainant’s statements, the statements of any witnesses, the respondent’s statements, relevant documents, and other evidence
• Provide support and security to the PAQC staff while in the office environment
• Prepare comprehensive investigative reports and maintain accurate documentation and records
• Testify clearly and credibly in hearings
Note: This position is not law enforcement, does not carry arrest power, and POST certification is not required. The potential exists that this may change in July 2026 as legislation is pending. This is a State of Georgia paid position with State benefits. Valid Georgia State Driver’s License Required. Pre-employment drug screening, security background, and criminal history review required.
Acceptable Education and Experience:
• An associate’s degree in criminal justice or a closely related field is desired; and
• Crime investigation experience, and/or law enforcement; or
• Any combination of experience and training that provides the equivalent scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.
A take-home vehicle is provided. Less than 10% travel is required, but some travel will be on short notice. Flex time is utilized; overtime is not.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• Resident of Chatham, Effingham, or Bryan County
• Experience working with prosecutorial offices or in a multi-agency investigative role
• Excellent interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and ability to handle sensitive or traumatic information with discretion
Salary Range: $60,000 – $65,000
