Waycross Judicial Circuit

Investigator

The District Attorney’s Office in the Waycross Judicial Circuit has an opening for a State Paid Investigator. The following are normal duties for this position; other duties may be required and assigned:

1] Must be courteous, respectful, and able to work well with others; while maintaining strict confidentiality and the ability to work independently.

2] Assists with thorough and impartial investigations to gather evidence used in the prosecution and conviction of criminal violators and with civil forfeitures;

3] Works with other law enforcement agencies during investigations; and with locating & subpoenaing victims and witnesses as needed;

4] Assists Office Attorneys, witnesses, and Victims with the collection and copying of evidence; and the preparation of cases for hearings and trials; and aid with the presentation of evidence in Court. Shall also assist with ensuring victims are advised of their rights under the Georgia Crime Victim Rights laws.

5] Minimum Qualifications: must be a citizen of the United States, have a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent and not have been convicted of any state or federal felony, or serious misdemeanor.

6] Must be a current P.O.S.T certified Georgia Peace Officer. Applicants must also demonstrate efficiency with a firearm, possess a valid Georgia Driver’s license, be prepared to drive themselves and others to Court in six [6] Counties and must be able to lift and move equipment and files [approx 20 pounds] into and out of Courtrooms. 7] All candidates are subject to: fingerprinting, a criminal history & general background check, a motor vehicle driver’s history check and pre-employment drug screening; employment is contingent upon the completion and satisfactory results of each investigation.

Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of Microsoft video players and the playing of DVDs in Court.  Knowledge of using the WEBX video conferencing program in Court.
