Western Judicial Circuit
Victim Witness Advocate
The District Attorney’s Office in the Western Judicial Circuit is currently accepting resumes for a Victim Witness Advocate. This position will work closely with victims and/or witnesses of a crime to guide them through the criminal justice process.
Responsibilities include:
- A victim advocate acts as a liaison between victims of crime, attorneys, and the court system; communicates with victims of crime by telephone, mail, and in person in order to notify victims of case status throughout the various stages of the court process; provides referral information for relevant service agencies; accompanies victims to court; assists with victim compensation fund claims and victim impact statements.
- Knowledge of the judicial process with respect to victims’ rights and experience working with prosecutors and law enforcement are preferred.
Minimum qualifications: Applicants should have an Associate’s Degree or higher in criminal justice, psychology, sociology, social work, counseling, or a related field and two years of experience working in criminal justice, social services, crisis intervention, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position may be considered.
Requirements:
- May be required to work on religious holidays.
- Regular and predictable attendance is required.
- Must work cooperatively with others.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Applicants selected for hire will be subject to fingerprinting, a criminal history background check, and motor vehicle driver’s history check. Employment is contingent upon the completion and satisfactory results of each investigation.
