Human Violence, Organized Crime, and Animal Crimes: Understanding the Link

This training explores the link between human violence (domestic violence, child abuse, elder abuse, sexual abuse), organized crime (gangs/cartels, human trafficking, illegal gambling) and animal crimes (animal fighting, abuse and neglect) and how knowing animal crimes can assist law enforcement in investigations of human violence and organized crime. The instructors will address recognizing signs of animal abuse/animal fighting, search warrants, collection of evidence, handing live animal evidence, cross-reporting, charging decisions and resources for law enforcement, animal control officers and prosecutors.
