PAC Receives Funding to Continue Traffic Safety Resource Program
The Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia (PAC) is pleased to announce it has received a $470,257 grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS).
The grant, which will continue through September of 2019, will provide much needed funding to train law enforcement officers and prosecutors to more effectively detect and prosecute impaired and/or unsafe drivers. In addition to enabling PAC to provide training statewide to law enforcement and prosecutors, this grant will fund the addition of an in-house Drug Recognition Expert to assist in developing and presenting trainings, and to serve as an additional resource for case review, consultation, and expert testimony when needed.
“The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety is committed to keeping everyone safe on our roads and highways, from the smallest precious cargo to the most seasoned drivers,” said GOHS Director Harris Blackwood. “This grant will help PAC reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities on Georgia roadways.
“We are pleased to be partnered with GOHS in providing this valuable training designed to improve the effective adjudication of traffic safety criminal cases and the reduction of traffic safety violations,” said PAC Executive Director Pete Skandalakis.
