Community Prosecutor

The Community Prosecutor is responsible for prosecuting misdemeanor domestic violence cases while also leading community engagement, event planning, and fundraising efforts on behalf of the Cobb County Solicitor General’s Office. This role requires a tech-savvy legal professional who can utilize digital tools and data-driven strategies to enhance outreach, coordinate large-scale community initiatives, and secure funding for public safety programs.

In addition to handling a caseload of domestic violence cases, this position involves developing and implementing community-based initiatives focused on domestic violence prevention, misdemeanor offenses, traffic safety, and victim advocacy. The Community Prosecutor will attend and coordinate public events, engage with stakeholders, and collaborate with law enforcement, victim advocates, and social service agencies to improve public awareness and support for affected individuals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Prosecution of Domestic Violence Cases:
• Manage and litigate a caseload of misdemeanor domestic violence cases from intake through trial.
• Conduct legal research, draft motions, and prepare for court hearings and jury trials.
• Work closely with victim advocates and social service agencies to ensure victim safety and participation in the legal process.
• Negotiate plea agreements and sentencing recommendations in accordance with legal standards and office policies.
• Represent the Solicitor General’s Office in court, including pretrial hearings, motions, and trials.

Community Engagement, Event Planning & Fundraising:
• Plan, organize, and execute public events, educational forums, and awareness campaigns related to domestic violence, misdemeanor offenses, traffic safety, and public safety initiatives.
• Develop and oversee fundraising efforts for community initiatives, including securing sponsorships, grant funding, and donor contributions.
• Utilize social media, digital outreach tools, and technology-driven strategies to expand community engagement.
• Collaborate with law enforcement, community organizations, advocacy groups, and local businesses to enhance outreach efforts.
• Conduct presentations, workshops, and training sessions for the public, professional groups, and stakeholders.
• Serve as a liaison between the Solicitor General’s Office and the community, improving transparency and trust.

Tech-Driven Public Relations & Awareness Campaigns:
• Leverage technology to manage digital outreach, track public engagement, and analyze crime trends.
• Develop interactive and data-driven educational content for community events and public safety initiatives.
• Maintain and update the Solicitor General’s website, social media platforms, and public information channels to ensure accurate and timely communication.
• Oversee video production, live-streaming, and digital presentations for events and legal education initiatives.
• Monitor public perception and media coverage of the office’s community prosecution efforts.

Policy & Program Development:
• Assist in the development of policies and procedures related to domestic violence prosecution, traffic safety enforcement, and community outreach initiatives.
• Evaluate current prosecution and community outreach strategies, making recommendations for improvements.
• Track and analyze legislative changes, crime trends, and community needs to inform public safety initiatives.
• Represent the Solicitor General’s Office on task forces, committees, and community advisory panels to advocate for victim rights and justice reforms.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia.
• Minimum 3-5 years of prosecutorial experience, preferably handling domestic violence cases.
• Strong litigation, trial advocacy, and legal writing skills.
• Experience working with victims of domestic violence and a deep understanding of trauma-informed prosecution.
• Excellent written, verbal, and public speaking skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
• Proficiency in using technology to enhance prosecution efforts, outreach, and community engagement.
• Highly tech-savvy, with experience in digital communication strategies, social media engagement, and public outreach technology.
• Proven ability to plan and execute large-scale community events.
• Strong background in fundraising, with experience in securing sponsorships, grants, and financial contributions for public initiatives.
• Established ties within the Cobb County community, including relationships with law enforcement, advocacy groups, and community stakeholders.
• Passion for public service, victim advocacy, and community justice initiatives.
