Deputy Chief Assistant Solicitor General

The Cobb County Solicitor General’s Office is seeking a dedicated and experienced attorney to serve as Deputy Chief Assistant Solicitor General. This leadership role involves assisting the Solicitor General in managing the prosecution of traffic violations and offenses, handle appeals and community outreach within Cobb County. The Deputy Chief Assistant Solicitor General will provide legal expertise, oversee assistant solicitors, ensure compliance with legal standards, and contribute to the development and implementation of office policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Solicitor General/Chief Deputy Assistant Solicitor General in the day-to-day management and supervision of the office’s legal staff and operations.
• Prosecute traffic cases efficiently and ethically, representing the state in court proceedings.
• Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to assistant solicitors and support staff.
• Review case files, motions, and pleadings to ensure accuracy and legal sufficiency.
• Collaborate with law enforcement agencies, court officials, and other stakeholders to facilitate justice and uphold public safety.
• Develop and implement office policies, best practices, and strategic initiatives.
• Handle complex or high-profile cases as assigned.
• Handle appeals from start to finish as they arise.
• Stay current with changes in criminal law and court procedures applicable to the jurisdiction.
• Represent the office in community outreach and public education efforts as needed.

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to practice law in the State of Georgia.
• Minimum of 5 years of prosecutorial experience, particularly traffic related.
• Significant experience trying jury trials and a willingness to handle appeals.
• Must have a background in community outreach with motivation and a willingness to commit to such outreach.
• Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced legal environment.
• Commitment to ethical legal practice and public service.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience managing legal teams or departments.
• Familiarity with Cobb County court system and local law enforcement agencies.
• Proven track record of successful litigation in traffic courts (e.g. jury trials).
• Proven track record of successful appeals.
• Proven track record of successful community outreach.
