Junior Victim Advocate
The Cobb Solicitor General’s Office is currently accepting resumes/applications for a Junior Victim Witness Advocate in the Cobb SG Circuit. This position will work closely with victim advocates, victims and/or witnesses of a crime.
Responsibilities include:
Closing cases; notifying victims of court dates and final dispositions; assisting witnesses with subpoena questions; entering data regarding victim services into Tracker data entry system regarding victim contact and services provided; providing information to law enforcement agencies and community service providers regarding the criminal justice system and area service providers; assisting victim advocates with assigned caseload; attend court proceedings and notifying victims of crime of proceedings and outcomes when needed.
Applicants should have, or work towards a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, psychology or a related field; previous administrative experience, particularly in a legal or judicial environment or experience working in criminal justice, social services, crisis intervention.
All candidates are subject to a background check. Applicants selected for hire will be subject to fingerprinting, a criminal history background check, a motor vehicle driver’s history check and pre-employment drug screening; employment is contingent upon the completion and satisfactory results of each investigation.
Preferred Qualifications: Applicants should have, or work towards a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, psychology or a related field; previous administrative experience, particularly in a legal or judicial environment or experience working in criminal justice, social services, crisis intervention.
Superior customer service skills, positive attitude, personal responsibility and a strong sense of responsibility to the community at large is required;
Knowledge of the judicial process with respect to victims’ rights and case filings; and experience working with prosecutors and law enforcement are preferred;
Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as computer and telephone skills are necessary.
