Conasauga Judicial Circuit

Victim Witness Advocate

The District Attorney’s Office is currently accepting resumes/applications for a Victim Witness Advocate in the Conasauga Circuit. This position will work closely with victims and/or witnesses of a crime to guide them through the Victim/Witness Advocacy Program.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with compensation claims, victim impact statements and advising of available resources based on the Victim Bill of Rights.
  • Knowledge of the judicial process with respect to victims’ rights and case filings; and
  • Experience working with prosecutors and law enforcement is preferred.

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work, counseling or a related field and two years of experience working in criminal justice, social services, crisis intervention, or trauma and violence safety assessment and planning. Superior customer service skills, positive attitude, personal responsibility and a strong sense of responsibility to the community at large is preferred. All candidates are subject to a background check. Applicants selected for hire will be subject to fingerprinting, a criminal history background check, a motor vehicle driver’s history check and pre-employment drug screening; employment is contingent upon the completion and satisfactory results of each investigation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in related field such as Criminal Justice, Sociology, Counseling, Psychology, etc.
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with having had a similar position for one to two years.
  • Ability to type and operate Windows and Microsoft programs.
  • Ability to write legibly and spell well.
  • Ability to communicate and assist the public with information, support, and referrals.

Salary Range: Minimum of $32,248 with additional credit for education and experience.
