Assistant Solicitor Attorney

The Dekalb County Solicitor-General’s Office is looking to hire an Assistant Solicitor-General/Attorney to do Pre-Charging Accusation.

The Assistant Solicitor will play a critical role in the pre-charging phase of criminal cases. Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Drafting Charging Documents: Preparing and reviewing warrants, indictments, and other legal documents to initiate prosecution.
• Evidence Management: Ensuring all pertinent evidence is collected, documented, and preserved in accordance with legal standards.
• Victim Advocacy: Maintaining direct and compassionate communication with victims, addressing their concerns, and keeping them informed throughout the legal process.
• Case Review: Collaborating with law enforcement to assess the sufficiency of evidence and recommend appropriate charges.
• Legal Research and Analysis: Evaluating statutes, case law, and other legal resources to support charging decisions and trial preparation.

Will have some remote work weekly.

Preferred Qualifications: Juris Doctorate Degree required; one year of experience in criminal justice, legal, or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license; and must possess and maintain licensure from the Georgia State Bar Association.
