Community Prosecutor
This Community Prosecutor serves as a representative of the Solicitor’s Office, focusing on problem-solving, crime prevention, and building bridges between the justice system and the community. This role combines traditional prosecution duties with community engagement to enhance public safety, address quality-of-life issues, and strengthen partnerships with communities, businesses, law enforcement, and local organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Serve as lead prosecutor on criminal trespass and ordinance violation cases, street racing cases, and many other cases of which attract community interest and media attention.
• Serve as lead prosecutor on many repeat offender matters.
• Act as a liaison to the public, community groups, and stakeholders, including attending community meetings and events during non-traditional hours.
• Collaborate with community members, law enforcement, schools, businesses, and service providers to identify and address crime trends and public safety concerns.
• Develop and implement strategies to reduce crime, prevent recidivism, and improve overall quality of life.
• Collect and analyze data to evaluate program effectiveness and recommend improvements.
• Engage with municipalities and develop relationships with local government agencies as well as act as spokesperson when dealing with these agencies.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Minimum of 3 years of trial experience, including cases taken to verdict.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse community groups.
• Demonstrated commitment to public service, community collaboration, and proactive problem-solving.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
