Douglas County Judicial Circuit

Assistant District Attorney - Trial Line

The Douglas County District Attorney’s Office is looking for an experienced Trial Line Assistant District Attorney.

Douglas County District Attorney’s Office | Douglas Judicial Circuit:

Do work that matters. Try cases. Serve people. Seek the truth.

Being an Assistant District Attorney is more than a job in a courtroom. It is an opportunity to stand at the intersection of law, justice, and community, and to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people who are counting on the criminal justice system to get it right.

The Douglas County District Attorney’s Office is looking for prosecutors who are smart, courageous, compassionate, curious, and relentless about doing the right thing. We want attorneys who understand that a prosecutor’s job is not simply to win cases. It is to seek justice, protect the community, hold accountable those who cause harm, and treat every person in the system with dignity and fairness.

THE WORK
As an Assistant District Attorney, you will handle felony-level criminal cases from investigation and charging through resolution or trial. You will develop case strategy, conduct legal research, write motions and pleadings, interview witnesses, work with investigators and law enforcement, communicate with victims and their families, negotiate resolutions, argue in court, and—when necessary—stand before a jury and try the case.
You will have opportunities to grow as a trial lawyer, legal strategist, leader, and public servant.

WHO THRIVES HERE
We are looking for attorneys who:
• Think critically. You can take a complicated case, identify what matters, and make sound decisions under pressure.
• Own their cases. You are prepared, organized, accountable, and willing to do the hard work before walking into the courtroom.
• Want to try cases. You are energized by advocacy and committed to becoming an excellent trial lawyer.
• Communicate with purpose. You can explain difficult legal and factual issues to judges, juries, colleagues, victims, witnesses, and the community.
• Have courage and judgment. You can make difficult decisions without losing sight of fairness, proportionality, or the human beings behind the case.
• Work as a team. You understand that great prosecution is collaborative and value the contributions of investigators, victim advocates, support staff, law enforcement, and fellow prosecutors.
• Keep learning. You welcome feedback, seek out mentorship, and continually sharpen your legal and courtroom skills.
• Lead with integrity. You understand the extraordinary responsibility that comes with the power to prosecute and you take that responsibility seriously.
• See the person, not just the case. You know that victims, witnesses, defendants, families, and communities are affected by every decision made in a criminal case.

Preferred Qualifications: WHY DOUGLAS COUNTY?

You can build a career here—not simply hold a position.  Located in Metro Atlanta, Douglas County offers prosecutors the opportunity to handle meaningful felony litigation while working in an office that emphasizes Truth, Justice, and Community. The office describes its approach as Smart Prosecution, partnering with citizens, civic leaders, and law enforcement to address the issues that matter most to the community.

You will have the opportunity to develop real courtroom experience, explore specialized areas of prosecution, and contribute to an office that believes effective prosecution requires both accountability and thoughtful problem-solving.

Most importantly, you will know why you are doing the work.  If you want to be challenged, if you want to try cases, if you want to grow as a lawyer, and if you want your work to mean something beyond the walls of a courtroom, Douglas County is the place to do it. Come prosecute with purpose. Come serve with conviction. Come make a difference in Douglas County.

Georgia Bar License or Provisional Georgia Bar License is REQUIRED.
