THE ROLE: COURTROOM LEADER + PROSECUTORIAL COACH

As Trial Deputy Chief ADA, you will occupy a unique space between elite trial advocacy and prosecutorial leadership.
You will handle significant and complex felony litigation while serving as a resource, mentor, and strategic partner to other Assistant District Attorneys.

Your responsibilities will include:
TRY
Take ownership of some of the most complex, serious felony cases and bring your courtroom experience to every stage of litigation—from case evaluation and motions practice through jury selection, trial, and sentencing.
LEAD
Provide experienced judgment on difficult cases, litigation strategy, evidentiary issues, negotiations, and courtroom challenges.
MENTOR
Help talented prosecutors become better trial lawyers. Review cases, conduct mock exercises, strategize before hearings and trials, and share the practical knowledge that can only come from experience.
BUILD
Work with office leadership to improve training, trial preparation, case management, technology, and prosecutorial practices.
COLLABORATE
Partner with investigators, law enforcement, victim advocates, experts, and other professionals to build strong, ethical, thoroughly prepared cases.
REPRESENT
Bring professionalism, confidence, fairness, and credibility to every courtroom and every interaction on behalf of the District Attorney’s Office.

THIS IS NOT A DESK JOB
We are looking for someone who still gets energized by the courtroom.
Someone who enjoys the preparation behind a great cross-examination.
Someone who can see the strategic issue buried inside a complicated case.
Someone who can walk a less-experienced prosecutor through a difficult evidentiary problem at 8:00 a.m.—and then walk into court and try a case at 9:00.

Preferred Qualifications: WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR: 
We are particularly interested in experienced prosecutors who have demonstrated:
• Significant felony prosecution experience.
• Extensive jury trial experience.
• Confidence handling complex motions and evidentiary issues.
• Strong knowledge of Georgia criminal law and procedure.
• Excellent legal research and writing skills.
• Exceptional courtroom presence and oral advocacy.
• Sound judgment in high-pressure situations.
• The ability to evaluate cases strategically and communicate clearly.
• A demonstrated commitment to ethical and professional prosecution.
• A genuine interest in mentoring and developing other attorneys.
• The ability to work collaboratively while exercising independent professional judgment.
Especially valuable
Experience with complex or high-stakes litigation, including homicide, violent crime, sexual offenses, organized criminal activity, major drug cases, financial crimes, digital evidence, expert testimony, or other sophisticated felony matters.
Leadership, supervisory, training, or significant mentoring experience is also highly valued.
