Victim Assistance Investigator

The District Attorney’s Office in the Piedmont Judicial Circuit has an opening for a Victim Assistance Investigator. The following duties are normal for this position; other duties may be required and assigned:

The purpose of this position is to perform professional investigative work to assist in investigating cases for the District Attorney’s Office. Gathers and compiles necessary information for the Assistant District Attorney including incident reports, certified prior convictions, criminal histories, crime lab information, defendant, victim and witness statements, victim impact statements, and medical records. Communicates with various groups and agencies including law enforcement, victims, witnesses, judges, court personnel, and the general public. Acts as a victim advocate providing assistance, support and guidance to victims of crimes.

Minimum Qualifications: All candidates are subject to a background check. Applicants selected for hire will be subject to fingerprinting, a criminal history background check, a motor vehicle driver’s history check and pre-employment drug screening; employment is contingent upon the completion and satisfactory results of each investigation. Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED with vocational or technical school training in Criminal Justice or related field and a minimum of one year of experience in law enforcement work with knowledge of legal procedures, investigative tactics, and ability to perform analytical thinking; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and related certifications as directed by the District Attorney.
