Event Data Recorders for Prosecutors
This course will provide prosecutors a basic understanding of various Event Data Recorder (EDR) systems utilized by law enforcement during serious crash investigations. It will assist in preparing prosecutors to use EDR data during prosecution of cases by familiarizing them with the systems and data, in turn allowing them to more appropriately question witnesses regarding the evidence obtained from these systems.
Topics will include history of EDR systems, terminology, an overview of how the system records data, the types of data that may be recorded, how the data can be applied during the crash reconstruction process, EDR resources that are available, case studies, and legal issues involving the use of EDR and data. Several hands-on demonstrations of EDR systems will be conducted during this course.
Course instruction will be provided by ACTAR accredited instructors. Approved for CLE Credit only.
