Joint Law Enforcement & Prosecutor DUI Driving Training – Athens

In 2023, Georgia recorded 1,491 fatal crashes, resulting in 1,615 traffic fatalities. Approximately 26% of these fatal crashes involved at least one driver with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.08 g/dL or higher, while an estimated 10% involved at least one drug-impaired driver. Overall, 27% of all traffic fatalities on Georgia roadways were alcohol-related. These statistics underscore the continuing need for coordinated multidisciplinary approaches to impaired driving enforcement and prosecution.

Effective investigation and prosecution of impaired driving and vehicular homicide cases require close collaboration between law enforcement officers and prosecutors. This comprehensive, no-cost training program is designed to foster that collaboration by bringing together professionals from both disciplines to develop shared strategies, enhance investigative techniques, and strengthen courtroom effectiveness in DUI and related cases.

Participants may earn up to 12 CLE and/or POST credit hours. Travel reimbursement is limited to staff of District Attorneys’ Offices, subject to prior approval by the elected District Attorney.

This two-day training program includes:
